Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is kind of late out of the gate, since we're due to begin using the new Mass translations at the start of Advent, but if you're looking for a resource for a general explanation of the Mass, with consideration of the meaning of the new translations, my pastor has written a very clear and useful book, Understanding the Mystery of the Mass, which is just out in a second edition, updated to include discussion of these changes.

I have the first edition, and it's excellent -- not a difficult read and probably well within reach of a high-school reader, not to mention being a great mom/educator resource for explaining the Mass to younger children. Fr. is currently preaching on the Mass and the changes in the language through the end of November, and it just struck me that some of you might be interested in the book.

Hey, this is going to be one of the topics on the member retreat we are doing tomorrow and Friday, so I think (hope) some of that discussion of resources will be actively pursued there and address this topic. It is a very timely topic and one I'm glad you brought up - also why we decided on it for the retreat discussion.

The Member Retreat thread where resources were shared. Thought I'd link it here for reference. Some resources are listed in both places.

Ok, I just designed a printable booklet with all of the new mass responses for kids.

And it's FREE!

You can Print it here!

This booklet is more child friendly than the pew cards our church has. I'm excited for advent!

I am drooling! Catholic Truth Society (in England) has BEAUTIFUL new Sunday and Daily Missals for the new translation.

Also white and burgundy presentation editions.

What a great gift this would be for a first communicant!

Holy Heroes Advent Adventure is something I would recommend. I'm not sure how to link it, but I'm sure it would pop up if you google it. They will email you a link to view their "adventure" for the day. There have been 3 very short videos to watch. One is about advent, one is about the jesse tree, and a third is walking children through the Mass and the new translation. There are also activities that you can print off. I've been watching them with my children and we're all enjoying them and learning from them.
Oh, and the best part is that it's free.

:)

You can access Advent Adventure here. Highly recommended, and the family are good friends of ours from Belmont Abbey, so I recommend them twice!
