Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Happy Easter Season!! My dc are happily painting in the kitchen with the watercolors from their Easter baskets and we realize that we need some new music around here. I would appreciate some recommendations for all kinds of music. What's fresh and new and fun, or joyous and danceable, or beautiful and inspiring, or soothing, or catchy or....? Ideas welcome!

Hello Mary Alice!

I've been trying to think of an answer to this and it is very difficult since everyone has a different taste in music, kwim?

Think back to music that is connected to a Springy memory for you or a great outdoor concert you attended years ago and dig out those CDs.

For instance, when I was 10 yrs old my family attended the Sacramento CA Strauss Festival, it was outside, people were sitting about on blankets and most important to me they had costumed dancers waltzing - fabulous!

Or the first time I visited Hawaii I listened exclusively to IZ and when I hear certain songs of his I can still strongly feel the tile lanai under my feet and the salty sea breeze on my face.

What are you studying at this time? Maybe you could bring in some cool ethnic music? Every now and again we start studying a country a week or a state a week and try new foods, new music from that region. It might be a fun way to finish off the school year.

I'll keep thinking!

Hey Mary Alice, jump on board our composer of the month threads and you can build a reperatoire of music that is all the qualities mentioned.

You can go back to Jan-March and see what you've missed.

They're in the Color and Caucophony Section

For uplifting, relaxing, or just plain enjoyable music, I really like the music offered by this company North Star Music
In particular I like the kind that blends the sounds of nature with beautiful music. Our favorite is the "Prairie" CD, but they also have Celtic, jazz, world music (we like "World Seranade"), piano, classical, etc. Something there to suit every mood. Everything I've gotten from them has been wonderful. We often play it while doing crafts, writing, doing math, etc. Oh, and they have samples on the website so you can listen before you buy.
