Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I received this in my e-mail inbox. I tried to look this up online, but it must not yet be public information for the reasons mentioned below. I am not one to call phone numbers on an e-mail.. However, I will ask here if anyone can verify if it is indeed true? I am so hoping that it is! I rejoice whenever I hear of anyone Coming Home.

Matt Pinto of Ascension Press/Luminous Media/Maximus Media wants to get the word out in the Catholic Homeschool community about the Donut Man. He is a kid/family entertainer. He is very big in the Christian community. EWTN carries his show. The reason Matt has asked us to get he word out is that he and his family are coming into the Catholic Church this Easter. There will be official announcements in September I believe. They anticipate a huge drop in his business when it is announced he is Catholic. It is so sad - we learned this past year how that had also been the case for Cathy Duffy. He will lose a lot of business from the Christain groups who would usually book his performances.

Jumping, clapping, singing, laughing-a Donut Man concert grabs children right where they are with a wonderful blend of Bible songs, Catholic testimony, stories, and lots of audience participation. Rob Evans, "The Donut Man," presents the Gospel in a way that introduces young children and their families to the basic elements of the Christian faith from a Catholic perspective, and he gives them lots to talk about when they get home because the concert is exciting Children are brought from out of the audience to help the Donut Man tell his stories and to do the hand-motions that go with the songs. And "Duncan, the Talking Donut," will be on hand, popping out of his bakery box to sing a song or two. A Donut Man concert is a great place for families to sow seeds of Catholic values into their lives, all within the joyful communion of the Eucharistic Church-values that Rob and his wife have cultivated in their children. This is "fun that redeems." It equips parents with creative ideas for presenting their faith and values to
their children. We're looking forward to seeing you and your family there!

There's a great idea! Seriously, our family feels like they know the Donut Man. We should celebrate his conversion!

It makes sense to wait until after his confirmation to formerly announce his conversion so as to not lose sales from protestants who will boycott him (oh, that is just so sad to write!!). I think the purpose of the e-mail was encourage Catholics to book him for concerts, buy his videos etc.. to keep his income from dropping substantially. Also to pray for him. After watching the Journey Home on EWTN, it is evident to see that becoming a Catholic is a true sacrifice for some protestants. That is sad, too, but it gives them one great way to "rejoice in their sufferings for the sake of the Gospel."

I am just hoping that this story is true about the donut man. Donuts all around!!

Blessings,

But the thing is, Catholics have nothing like him. He's catchy and appealing for kids and it doesn't pain mom and dad to listen to him. The videos are very well produced and the live shows are technically topnotch. Catholic TV lags so far behind things like the Donut Man and everything that comes out of Focus on the Family Productions. We NEED this!

Wow, yes I can verify this. It was me who Matt talked to and I wrote this little announcement (which has had some info deleted from it related to conference) that must be making the internet rounds! Electronic media is an amazing (and sometimes frightening) thing at how quickly it moves. Matt Pinto did ask me to notify other Catholic homeschool conference planners about this as we want to get the word out to those who are in the position to book him as an entertainer.

Elizabeth, please check with Matt Pinto before writing an article. He could let you know how they want this information disseminated publicly. I'm sure he would be extremely grateful for your help in publicizing this since you have such a high readership. But the timing sounds like it needs to be somewhat specific. For anyone who would like to verify it, Matt indicated that he could be called directly. I have his number if interested.

I just now found this thread. I had received your message from several email sources over the last week or so, Mary. What a small internet world! To think that I "know" the author of the Donut Man email that is making the rounds . . .

I have a funny story:

I have been having unbelievably active dreams this pregnancy -- many dreams throughout the night, including much activity and many people, many of which are frustration dreams. I've been getting lots of sleep, but waking up tired!    (By the way, is this normal for any of you during pregnancy?!)

Anyway, after reading the email about the Donut Man's impending conversion, I dreamed about him. The strange thing it that we aren't real big fans around here. We have one of his videos that gets played every once in a while and that's it. But I guess I was excited about his conversion.

In my dream, many Catholic families traveled together to see him perform in person. The place where he was performing was obviously owned by Protestants because in my dream, during the intermission of his show, a voice came over the loudspeaker saying, "Ladies and Gentlemen, we see that many of you are wearing Catholic rosary bracelets on your arms. These are not allowed here. Please kindly take them off for the remainder of the show."

I woke up laughing at the scene.      I guess my mind was mulling how the Protestant/Catholic thing would work out for him, and my dream was the result.

Personally, I am fond of "The best present of all is Jesus. The best present of all is God's own son."
My kids watched that video daily in the days before Nicholas' Christmas birthday. It was on when my water broke. If you change "Jesus" to "Nich'las" you'll know what was running through my head during labor. Maybe that's why I feel such intimacy with the Donut Man !

The Donut Man, Rob Evans, is going to be on EWTN on the Journey Home on Sept. 11. I'm looking forward to watching this.

Blessings,

Saw him twice over the summer. He has a fun conversion story, and the kids enjoyed his live performance.

I had not heard this news before and so I'm just thrilled here! We have been great Mr.Donut Man fans for years and always would joke how we need a Catholic Mr.Donut Man to sing 'Life without the Eucharist is like a donut...' He's such a part of our family life that when the cardiologist showed us a diagram explaining our daughter's congenital heart defect to us I immediately had Mr.Donut Man singing in my head...'Life without Jesus is like a donut cause there's a hole in the middle of your heart...'
Thank you Kristina for posting about him - we'll have to get someone to tape the EWTN show for us. I wonder if lots of Catholic fans had been praying for him.

Oh, Praise God! I missed this when posted back in April! Praise God! Praise God!!!

The Donut Man was here awhile back, and we went to see him when the kids were little. He is SO wonderful! We had a lot of his videos when the kids were little, so they grew up with him!

I have seen him on EWTN, and know his stuff isn't too bad, so I assumed that they had him on because he wasn't objectionable to our faith. I assumed they needed quality fun entertainment about the Lord for kids, which is just what he is. I love his lessons that he brings to his show.

I'm SO HAPPY that he's coming into the fullness of the Faith! Praise Be to GOD!

I'll spread the word as I can for sure! And I will DEFINITELY be lifting him in prayer! And I will DEFINITELY be watching EWTN to see him on The Journey Home (my favorite Catholic show!).

Thanks!

saw his conversion story on the Journey Home.It was awesome. Marcus did mention the hope that Catholics would take up the slack because Rob Evans is now going to lose a lot of his previous non Catholic clientele. His stuff is wonderful. It's the least we could do.We stand to gain far more.

His story can also be heard at his new website
http://www.lateforsupper.com
On his old donut man website you can now order his material for Liturgy and Catholic teachings!!
http://www.donutman.com
I know the first link is right-dunno about the second. If it doesn't work let me know.
BTW.I want to say i am very glad to have found this board. I was doing a search on the Donut Man when it came up!!!
It looks like a good board to be part of!
