Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been looking at "Year with God" and "Catholic Mosaic."

And, if Catholic Mosaic still available for purchase? I can't seem to find it.

*I can't decide which one would suit me best:
son is 2 year old
*I am a convert and don't know many of the details of feasts, etc.
*I'm not a crafty person! HA HA

Thanks for any help in deciding which ones to purchase.

I have both A Year with God and Catholic Mosaic. They are both lovely, but very different.

A Year with God is more of a craft/recipe manual for celebrating the liturgical year. It has ideas for parties, activities, crafts, recipes, and coloring sheets.

Catholic Mosaic is a book of lesson plans that accompany a list of picture books dedicated to feasts and parts of the liturgical year. There is a book list in the front and a lesson plan for many books. The plans include vocabulary, copywork selections, discussion questions, enrichment activities, etc.

At your sons age, you would probably get more out of A Year with God, but I would highly recommend looking over the Catholic Mosaic book list and starting to purchase the picture books! You would enjoy reading them with your son now, and maybe later you can purchase Catholic Mosaic and enjoy the activities.

Personally, I prefer Catholic Mosaic. I am using it as a guide for our liturgical reading and filling in with activities and crafts from A Year with God. They seem to work very well together.

Oh, I meant to add- if you want to save yourself some money, there are many liturgical activities available online from places like Catholic Culture and Catholic Icing, among many others. At your son's age, you might prefer something more laid back anyway.

Krista -

THANKS! I'm going through the list and adding the books, that are available to my amazon wish list. WHAT A GREAT LIST!!! WOW!!
Now, is there a Catholic book company where some of these books would be available? Amazon doesn't have all of them.

No, not one place altogether, and unfortunately many are OOP or hard to find.

I'm definately learning towards the Mosaic. I love how it integrates other things within the religious content. Cross- curriculum is totally my thing! It also sounds like something he can grow into by adding more information every year he goes. We can start with simply the name of the saint with a picture and move up from there.

Should I hold out for the color version to come back? I see that Hillside only has the b&w available.

I have the b&w. I don't know when the color would come available again as I got mine last July and the color version was unavailable then also. I didn't want to wait . Maybe someone who has the color version can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only difference is that the photos of the books (and just a few other illustrations) in my copy are b&w instead of color. There is a title page to each monthly chapter that has original artwork, but I can't tell if that would be in color in the color version. The artist is the one who did the coloring companion book, so I'm guessing that the title pages would be b&w anyway.
