Here are some Lenten crafts we have been doing and we have a Lenten T-rex too! Just had to share. Enjoy! The toothpick dough thing is salt dough (not for eating) and whenever we do a good deed we pull a toothpick. It is to represent the crown of thorns. Once its Easter we will decorate it (hopefully all the toothpicks will be gone by then!) We just LOVED the Da Vinci Last Supper project. We couldn't get enough of it. We were supposed to wait until Holy Thursday to do it but we couldn't wait.
Rosemarie.
We love our T-Rex, he was our Advent T-rex too. We put a pretty red Christmas bow on him them. He is one that you build up from plastic bones - too cool!

Where did you get the figures for the last supper craft? My daughters might like to try that one!

They look great! About how long did it take to do the Last Supper craft? Was he able to do most of it on his own?

Love the pictures! I'm so glad the printables are working on the Last Supper craft again.
Jenn- The Last Supper craft took us longer than I thought it would. Cutting is the time consuming part, so it just depends how good your kids are with scissors. If I were preparing for a retreat with lots of kids (like I think you are) I would pre-cut the egg cartons and have them ready to glue. Also, it can take considerably less time if you're not meticulous in cutting out the people.

Yes, I had a few of the meticulous...and then a few hasty ones for Advent retreat, and I only had simple cutting out (squares). The hasty had to have a few replacements. The meticulous...well, I had to hurry along.
So I'm thinking this might be too much for a short period.

some asked how it was cutting and coloring the pictures. full disclosure: I let my son (5.5 yrs old and just now really getting into coloring and cutting) do all the coloring. All the people in the last supper craft are each enclosed by a large personal rectangle and my son cut out all the rectangles. I put together and glued the egg cartons together. Then we tried to glue on the pictures of the men on the egg cartons but they looked 'different' to say the least from the website so my son insisted that I cut the figures out of their 'rectangles' for him and so I did. So it was a fast craft. I have only one child. We did it in 1 evening. We have it on our dining room table. We really really like it.

We did the Last Supper craft last year on Holy Thursday and my kids just loved doing it! It was funny, though, that none of them wanted to cut out or color Judas. So, I had to. :-) I guess that made it truly a family craft. My husband took care of assembling the egg carton, the kids cut and colored(except for Judas, of course) and I helped do some of the gluing.
We are doing the bean jar that was featured in an early segment of Holy Heroes (the kids put in a bead every time they make a sacrifice and are looking forward to them changing into something like jelly beans on Easter) :-)
I did just get my hands on the stickers that Dollar Tree sells of the Stations of the Cross and the Mysteries of the Rosary. I am hoping to do some of the crafts that Lacy has featured on her blog with those during the upcoming week.
God bless,
Lisa
