Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As part of his FHC prep, my son is reading about her. Does anyone know her true feast day? We've read two different dates...May 12 and May 13.

It's a good question. I'm stumped. I was leaning towards May 13, but now I say May 12, but I can't give a definitive answer. This is a case of where I find it all split, both internet and books with both dates.

My books that say May 13:

Butler's Lives of the Saints
Dictionary of the Saints by Attwater
Dictionary of Saints by John Delaney

May 12:
Dictionary of Patron Saints' Names
Her Dream Came True

My main site, Patron Saints Index gives the 12th, and so does this site, eCatholic hub.

But my final leanings towards the 12th comes from reading the site Church of St. Sigismund in Bologna where Imelda's incorrupt body can be found. This says May 12.

Unless Bl. Imelda is officially canonized, her feast day isn't really part of the official dates of the church. Right now it's the date of her death (which usually is the case).

So, it's up to you which you pick.

Thanks Jenn! I'm leaning towards the 12th, too!
