Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I really recommend a Cd by Father Tom Eutenauer - a talk that he gave at the IHM Conference this year "Defending Our Faith and Souls from the Surrounding Culture." He gave the talk to the teenagers and my daughter was really impressed by it. We ordered the cd and just received it. It is really incredible - and I really recommend it for all parents and teens.

Cds can be ordered at the IHM website

I didn't hear Fr. Eutenauer's talk but I did spend some time talking to him in Michigan because our tables were right next to each other and I am reading his new book Exorcism and the Church Militant. I HIGHLY recommend it.

We all need to read this book to remind ourselves that evil is real and it wants to destroy us. I had no interest in the book when I first saw it. Really, I figured it was kind of scary subject matter. But I am reading it and I am learning a lot and rather than making me afraid it's giving me great hope and courage as well as insight. If you can, READ IT!

Here's great quote from the book:
Quote:
Family life, despite all its problems, is the antidote to the devil's depredations and hopelessness. Demonic possession does indeed "happen in a vacuum." Namely, the vacuous state that is the pre-condition to demonic possession is found when people are deprived of the benefits that family offers. Family life is a divine and human institution given for the well being of man and is a natural protective force against the negativities of the demonic world.

I tried to order the book Exorcism and the Church Militant, only a few days back but the international postage was written up as $130 ...I'm hoping to get a copy somehow soon...it looks REALLY good! I think you are right Michele, I learnt so much through Fr Gabriele Amorth's books, particular the first one and have referred to it many, many times for practical things ~ it is not just eye opening reading it is essential reading IMO.

That's a lovely quote too Michele, thanks for sharing it...and Marilyn, I would have LOVED to have been there! I pray Father will come out to Australia one of these days..

Thanks for mentioning the book Michele. This is a subject I am very ignorant about and perhaps a little scared - I have heard the book discussed on EWTN radio but was a little scared to read it.

Editing my original post to add that the Joseph Pearce talk from the same conference - Reclaiming Christian Culture: The Battle Begins in the Home is also very good - I just finished listening to it. Of course I am a Joseph Pearce fan - what with the accent (and his mention of the world cup at the start of the cd!)and because Chesterton and Shakespeae are two of my favorite people!!

I am guessing that's a mistake. I would e-mail and ask. Also I saw it offered through Ignatius Press at: http://www.ignatius.com/Products/ECM-P/exorcism-and-the-chur ch-militant.aspx --you might want to try there.

I see that there is also a talk by Fr. Eutenauer from IHM entitled "The Family as the Antidote to the Kingdom of Darkness". Has anyone heard this talk? It's apparently related to Michele's great quote.

Marilyn,
I just received my CDs from the Va conference and Fr. Euteneur's was one of them but I haven't heard it yet. Thanks for mentioning it; I'll start it right away!

I heard Joseph Pearce there, on Shakespeare. He's a great speaker but I've had trouble reading his books; I have a couple that I've only read partway, just can't seem to finish. have you read any? I'd like to get his Shakespeare ones to continue what he talked about but not if it's as hard to read.

Karen - I am kicking myself that I did not order the other Father Tom one too.

Re Joseph Pierce - I have not read his books - just listened to him. The Catholic Shakespeare one is on my list. Why are his books tough? Does he not present clearly?

Can we order the whole conference on CD?

I love both Fr. Euteneur and Joseph Pearce! The topics seem very timely for dh and I as we evaluate our little family and the direction we are heading.

I believe you can at the IHM Link above. I know though that Christopher Check's talk "Liberation from E-Slavery" is not included in the set. I had to buy it separately. I highly recommend it btw - really make one think about the whole focus of our culture on e technology.

It's hard to get now because he doesn't sell it online. But you can read it online at: Liberating Ourselves from eSlavery - Chesterton Unplugged. You need a membership to read it but membership is free.

Great to know!    I & my husband would love more support & spiritual books (in specific) that can help us!! I'm also sad :( we were not able to attend the Lansing conference, but we hadn't yet known what God had in store--even if we were at the time discerning it!

Marilyn,

Do you get all the talks listed bellow when you order the set?

I wonder what is more convenient the MP3 or the CD? can I load the mp3 to an Ipod?

The CDs arrived yesterday and I listened to both of Fr. Euteneur's while cleaning today. Wow they're really good! I can't recommend them highly enough. We're going to listen to them as a family tomorrow evening. I want my children to hear what Fr. has to say about family and how crucial it is to society.

Natalia

I did not get the set - just ordered a few when I was at the conference. I am glad Michele answered your question - I do not have an MP3 so am not sure how it would work.
