Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I came across this site: CatholicTimeline.com

which promotes "Epic: A Journey Through Church History" by Steve Weidenkopf & Dr. Alan Schreck done by Ascension Press.

The video clips (or cd) of Boniface and the Christmas Tree, Battle of Lepanto, and Pius XII and WWII are very fascinating listening.

The Resources Page has a wonderful reading list, too.

Has anyone bought these materials? Comments?

I saw this in an advertisement at American Papist a year or more ago, I was very impressed and it has been on my wish list ever since.

I really like the idea that it can be used in a group situation, I would like to get this and share it with the families in my city...it's just a matter of saving for it.

I'd love to hear if anyone has it as well.

I have Epic and started using it in this last year. We didn't get far as we went on a few rabbit trails, but will be picking this up again in September (whenever it is comfortable after the baby is born). It is set up as a series of lectures similar to Ascension's other products like the Great Bible Adventure.

I have not gotten any supplemental materials as of yet (which they list in the Teacher's guide at the end of each section) but I would think that to get the most out of this program, it would be good to go more in depth with additional reading, even if it is only some good historical fiction. I am wondering what my wisest buys would be as our Interlibrary loan has been stopped (due to budget cuts..and just when I got the hang of using it regularly )

I am on disc 19 of 20 of the audio of Epic and really enjoy it! I also think the timeline is GREAT I recommend purchasing the timeline just in itself ($5), as it's a GREAT resource (though you'll need 2 to hang it up because it's printed front/back). I have the workbook, but really haven't used it yet.
Do you have any specific questions?

God bless,
Christine
