Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone else burying the Alleluia today? We usually invite our neighbors over and have a parade outside ringing bells and waving banners (our protestant neighbors probably think we're crazy!) This year they will have to parade around inside our house as it's still cold outside. Last year we buried the Alleluia next to our statue of Mary which was moved when the neighbors put up a new fence so the Alleluia was lost for quite some time until my husband became the hero and found it back! It's funny what an impact losing the Alleluia had on our children!

Each child decorates a page of their own Alleluia and then we roll them up like a scroll and tie with a rope and a crucifixion holy card on them. This year, I'll place them in the bottom/back of our lent altar.

We've done a little in-house-parade in the past too! It's fun to try to remember the different sung-Alleluias that we know.

In the past, when I had an in-home daycare, I've had my son paint pictures on the back of scrap paper; I then write Alleluia on each one (something like 20-30 sheets). I then send the kids around the house to hide them, singing various songs with "Alleluia" in it.

During Lent, if an Alleluia is found, whoever did the finding needs to re-hide it somewhere else without saying anything to anyone. By the end of Lent, not only have I completely forgotten the original hiding places, but they're moved anyway. I have also hidden little plastic eggs with small treats (sometimes candy, but not usually), both by themselves as well as along with some of the alleluias... As the children hunt for all the alleluias, they find the treats as well.

Lots of fun!

I did something really simple with my RCIA group. I gave them all a slip of paper with Alleluia written on it and told them to "hide" it in a book so they wouldn't "find" it until Easter.

I have mine in my meditation book at the Easter meditation so I will "find" it there on Easter. I did this quick and dirty with slips of paper and magic marker but it could be made very pretty and something like a bookmark for children to color. I am going to try and remember that for next year...
