Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Ladies I would love some ideas on activities ,readinbg etc. for boys who may not be so big on the whole romance thing at the ages we have here
So far I've made a valentines tree and plan to read from our beautiful saint books we have . Our boys are now 9yrs & 14yrs .
dh & I are going out for dinner and I was thinking maybe making the boys a special dinner too there big brother will be over watching them for the night . ideas on meals ? I'm trying to turn valentines day into the focus of real love , real commitment etc. instead of the plasticy often lust focused theme it has become . I look forward to ideas . Roxie

My boys seem to relate better to the part of the story that involves Valentine marrying the soldiers when the emporer forbade it. The whole sneaking behind the emporer's back having secret weddings thing.
Maybe traditional wedding foods (my boys like finger foods and meat/veggie trays with dip, etc)and a small white wedding-like cake. And a short lesson on the married state and the honor due to women because of the dignaty of Mary....
Just an Idea .
Thank you for getting my brain going, I think I'll do something similar .

Might also be a good time for some medieval lessons of Chivalry.. and greater love hath no man than to give up his life for his friend.. type of love.

This was neat:     Oh Boy!

Here is our solution for Valentines for a boy that couldn't decide whether Valentines are still "cool" to pass out. (He is in the fifth grade)
