Reminded by the previous thread, Gifts for FHC, my goddaughter is receiving Confirmation this spring and I would love some ideas. Her family attends weekly mass, but after staying with them for a week, there is no prayer, talk of faith or sacramentals in the home. She is taking the name Brigid, so I sent her St. Brigid's Cross for Christmas. She is going to hang it in her room! I'm thinking a St. Brigid's cross necklace, but need more ideas.

My two eldest daughters were confirmed in December. One of my daughters received The Catholic Girls Guide from her sponsor. My daughter really likes the book. My other daughter received a beautiful, religious photo frame.
A friend sent both girls checks, writing that the money was to be used to buy something that would help them grow in their spiritual lives.
Another idea would be a statue.

Christine, Thank you!
She will be getting plenty of checks. I'm thinking about a statue. That book looks interesting, I'm just not confident she will use it.

There are a few threads in the archives with some good ideas.

And a copy of the Fifteen Prayers of St. Brigid!... they had a large part in my conversion when I was about her age.

I love the Prove It! books....by Amy Welbourne...they are terrific, and geared towards teens. I find them very easy to read, but they aren’t lightweight....very serious about the Faith, but funny without trying so hard to be. Even the covers, I think, sort of appeal to teens.
I agree with Robin, great suggestion! Does EWTN sell DVD’s of their series, “Life on the Rock”? Those would be really good as well.....I just love Fr. Mark!

I agree with the book suggestions! I love giving books on the chosen saint... it is sometimes a risk if they'll read it or not, depending on the child/teen, but I always hope that someday they will!

I decided what to get! I came across a site where I found a beautiful St. Brigid Icon This site has some really nice things.
I called my niece yesterday and had a wonderful discussion about St. Brigid. She has her cross hung and I think this icon as a plaque will appeal to her more than a statue.
I also found a porcelain pendant that I think she will wear. I know she won't wear a medal, so I'm hoping this will work!
