I'm looking for inspiration. I just hate throwing the old Magnificat issues. I find the art included in each issue is so beautiful and unique. Occasionally I want to save some of the special prayers and articles in the issue, too.
But I already threw a bunch out becuase they were *waiting* to be utilized in my re-use plan.
So, mainly I just want to save the covers and the last part that features a work of art (with the explanation).
Anyone already do this? Any simple ideas on saving and displaying so that it is usable and user friendly?

I'd love to see ideas on this too, as I struggle with the same question.
The only one I know who has ever mentioned it is my cousin, who keeps the covers and tosses the rest of the book.
I have, from time to time, thrown out a collected stack (like when we were moving last summer) but a new group has taken it's place and is taking up space on my shelf.
I had thought about donating the books to a women's shelter or prison, even considered setting up a box in the vestibule so others could add theirs as well. The content, even if dated, is timeless, esp. for someone struggling in their life moment-to-moment. But that was my thought when I lived in a large, metropolitan area. Now I'm in a small town, so I don't know if it could work as well.

Well...I felt the same way about Seton musical program books Jenn. So I bought a small photo/scrapbook to hold the covers and pitched the rest. Maybe that would work?

Jenn, Here are a few ideas we have tried:
1) I laminate (or cover with clear contact paper) and tack on the wall near where my children will be doing their schoolwork. This is so they can see the picture close-up, clearly, and often. I change them once a week.
2) I laminate and use for picture study. Each child chooses a beautiful picture and with art supplies tries to recreate it themselves. Great for focusing in depth.
3) I make picture puzzles for my littles
First I laminate 4 pictures
then cut each picture into 3 equal strips.
store in a ziploc baggy
One child will take the bag, empty the contents on the table and proceed to put the pictures back together by matching the appropriate strips.
They enjoy doing this and they are absorbing wonderfully ,beautiful artwork at the same time.

Couldn't bear to part with mine either, Jenn! The art history and explanations are unbeatable!!!!!
I pulled the art sections out - the cover as well. Then, I filed them in my file system under the appropriate liturgical time of the year. When I pull my file folder out as I plan that month/week, I use these as my art lessons. Sometimes, I go to web galleries and print a larger image out to display on our Feast Table. If you don't print a larger image, you can display the cover image in a small acrylic standing photo frame...I wish I could think of a better way to describe these! They're inexpensive and I keep a stack of them on hand to display holy cards, Magnificat art images, etc. I think mine are 4 x 6, and I'm sure I got them from the big store that sells everything.

Oh, I'm so glad to see this question posed, Jenn!
I'm the same way. My old issues are stacking up on my headboard. I'm off to a baseball game but look forward to sitting down to read through these idea.

I do what Jennifer does - except I'm not quite so organized, so my stuff is waiting to be laminated in one small drawer of a file with math games ,etc.
I do plan on making a liturgical notebook. Until then, I have a basket of laminated artwork in a basket under my chart of liturgical seasons, day of the weak, dedication of the month, etc. At the beginning of the month or when we remember to actually pull out something for a feast day - I let the children pick their favorite image of that saint or feasts and we display it on our prayer table in the kitchen.
I also cut our random quotes of saints and glue them to index cards - to be laminated. I am a lamination fan - but it means that I can then relax with everyone handling it. My paper stuff goes through so many hands - some of whom are more careful than others, and in baskets or piles - these kinds of things get torn up without the lamination in my house, at least.
Oh, and I did the same thing with the covers of Fr. Hardon's old magazines. I saved a very old Sophia Institute press catalogue with art explanaations for the same reason. Unfortunately someone threw that one out thinking it was an older version of a new catelogue - I hadn't cut out the art pictures and explanation yet. I try to cut things our quickly and have one set place to store it until I laminate just to avoid another such disaster.
