My Catholic home schooling group is looking for a really good but short bible study to use this summer. In the past we have done both Proverbs 31 Woman and Mother's Rule of Life by Kimberly Hahn. We LOVED them and I highly recommend them to anyone.

With that being said we need something for this summer. We spend 8 weeks in the summer meeting every week. This time is a wonderful opportunity to share and reflect before we start the new year. I think the ladies would prefer a woman, that's why I didn't just pick out one of Scott Hahn's studies

Have you looked into Catholic Scripture Studies

They have some interesting short study programs in addition to the longer studies. In fact, after Easter I am doing the Humanae Vitae study program with a small group of women. It has 4 lessons and an accompanying DVD by Fr. Frank Pavone. I am really looking forward to it! Check out their other short study programs, some of which Scott Hahn developed.

There is the Courageous Series from Emmaus Road Publishing. My favorite out of this series was the Courageous Women: A Study of Heroines of Biblical History.

And, Women of Grace: A bible study for married women.

We went through these about 6 years ago in a small group of about 6 women, and liked them all.

There are sample chapters for all of these, so you can take a look and see if it's something along the lines of what you're looking for.

Has your group done any Theology of the Body studies? Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful stuff. Good News About Sex and Marriage (a question and answer format after a great introduction) and Theology of the Body for Beginners (both by Christopher West) have been a big hit in my parish. But I hesitate to recommend either of these on their own. In order for us to really live into this vision of Christ-like, self-donating love, we first need to open up and accept more of God's love in our hearts. The old saying, you can't give what you haven't received... So, I think reading Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge along with the TOB stuff is the way to go. You'll have to adjust to evangelical ways of saying things - but it's a treasure well worth it, and they are surprisingly consistent with Catholic theology. I'd say don't miss Captivating. It has changed the lives of lots of women in my parish.
