Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this one. I had a three volume set given to me by the librarian at my last teaching job. The DRE told her to get rid of anything pre-Vatican II. Lucky for me!

This was published in 1960 by Catholic Home Press. The first volume is focused on the Old Testament through the crucifixion. Vol. 2 tells goes from the Resurrection through the modern age. The third volume covers the Church from the Reformation to the 20th century.

On almost every page there are are maps, illustrations, art masterpieces and diagrams. If my children are the right age for this (they are 8, 7, 5 and 1) it could be our religious ed text for several years! We have tried Faith and Life (too little info for them) and My Catholic Faith (a bit too much for them now).

There are some used sets available on Amazon but no reviews have been written. I would love to hear from anyone who might be familiar with this set!

I have these. I think they are lovely, and a great source of information. It's too bad the pictures aren't in color, but that's my only criticism. It's a great reference tool.

In the edition I have much of the art is color. I agree, though, it would be nice to see more color!

We have these too, they are beautiful. I love how it is set up as an uncle priest teaching his nephew. My oldest enjoyed reading volume I. I think I'll dig mine out and reread the chapter on Lent.
