Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We start singing 12 days of Christmas with CHristmas Day being Day 1. Today at mass the priest wished us a Happy 12th day of Chritmas. Hmm...does this cradle Catholic have it wrong? Do I start counting on the day after Christmas?

Thanks for helping me get it right next year.

hmmm the 1st is the Octave of Christmas (according to the Catholic calender on my wall).. so if that's the 8th day then the 5th would have been the 12th day.. today the 6th would have been the traditional day of Epiphany (though it's now moved to be a Sunday celebration in some places)..

but maybe the traditional 12th Night celebration is counted differently than my calender does it.

Guess I"m not much help

hmmm I see the confusion.. some people say that Twelfth Night is another name for Epiphany (jan 6)and some say that it's Epiphany Eve (jan 5)

Here's a Catholic Answers apologist saying that Twelfth Night is Epiphany Eve
