Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Today, I believe is the start of the Winter Ember Days. I recall that these days are in thanksgiving for the olive crop, in particular the oil therefrom.

So. What's on your menu this week?

I was thinking a nice tomato, basil, mozzarella salad with olive oil drizzled over all would be great.
Avocado, onion and grapefruit salad with similar drizzle of olive oil.
Plate of mixed olives with crackers or bread and cheese and grapes or berries is one of our favorite appetizers.
WinnDixie has had a great Rosemary Olive Oil bread lately that I think I'll pick up.

This site Colavita has a HUGE selection of recipes involving olive oil.

I found Jennifer's (Wildflowers and Marbles) menu plans for September very helpful, as well as these threads Ember Days and Seasonal Prep and Ember Days.

Great ideas, Jennifer. We're not doing much differently for the Ember Days this week, but incorporating olives and/or olive oil is pretty easy, isn't it? Love your ideas, thanks, Jennifer!

I sooo wanted to respond last week, but my last week sort of fell apart around me. We did observe the ember days, but not with as much intention as the Fall Ember Days. I found it a little harder during Advent for some reason.    Anyone else?

We did find ways to incorporate olive oil into just about everything though! Not hard for our family. I'd love to try to do the olive plate for next year - that was a great idea to try, Jen!

Yes, definitely much harder to focus on this time of year. I loved all the ideas you suggested though Jennifer.
