Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been trying to pray the Lit of the Hours for a few months now. One thing that really frustrates me is not knowing how most of the hymns go. Is there a CD that goes with it? I went to Catholic Book Publishing but didn't find it...

Hi Stef -- I was instructed that when the LOH is prayed privately, you do not have to sing or even recite the hymns.

Stef, which book of prayer are you using? My dh prays the LOH every morning and his book has the songs in the back of his book. If he does not know the song, he goes to the piano and taps it out.

Stef,

If you don't know the tune, it is appropriate to chant or simply pray the hymn. You aren't required to use the hymns in private prayer, but since it is the prayer of the church, there is a unity with the Universal family when you do.

You can get morning and evening prayer on mp3 at Pray Station Portable. He doesn't sing the hymns, but prays them.

This looks interesting - "Hymns of the Missal and Breviary".

Blessings,
