Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

As I was praying a decade of the rosary this evening, I was stuck by the idea that perhaps it is time for me to start wearing a miraculous medal. I am concerned that it will conflict with other jewelry that I sometimes wear. I go pretty sparsely most of the time but do on occasion like to wear one large pendant (I have lots, many handmade by friends). They are always a "go with my wardrobe" item.

How do you handle this? Is it just time for me to let go of the world?

I have one. I wear it all the time. It is nestled on the chain, next to my pardon crucifix, and between the medals of St Monica and St Gianna. If it doesn't show, on/around the neckline of whatever it is I am wearing, then I may wear another necklace that will show--does that make sense?

you could use a longer chain so that the medal would typically fall below the neckline so that you can still wear your other jewelry when you like.

I have mine, along with the other medals I have, on a pin that I pin to my bra strap. I have lost several necklaces when a kid pulled on them, but I have yet to lose one pinned to me. I think the drawbacks are that I don't wear them at night, and no one else sees them, which when I was wearing the necklace, was sometimes a good conversation starter.

We have a jewelry store and I wear a couple of sentimental pieces that my husband made for me. Along with them I wear my brown scapular. I get more compliments when I am working at the store on my BROWN SCAPULAR. We do carry and make religious jewelry...I think we need to sell brown scapulars!

I usually wear the children's version type scapulars due to their lightness. I've worn this one in the past from the Divine Mercy Shrine Gift Shop:

Rita, I'm sure you'll be able to work something out. Our Lady promises many graces to those who wear the Miraculous Medal around their necks. The medal has made a difference in my life. It's worth the effort to pursue the inspiration you've received in the Rosary!

During my transition time away from jewelry, it helped me to think of st. Paul's words. I said to myself, St. Paul says I should be decorated with virtue not pearls. This helped me a lot when I went out with my husband.

Here's the quote:
St. Paul wrote:

Similarly, (too,) women should adorn themselves with proper conduct, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hairstyles and gold ornaments, or pearls, or expensive clothes, but rather, as befits women who profess reverence for God, with good deeds. A woman must receive instruction silently and under complete control.”

I Timothy 2:9-10

May God bless you!
