I just received two kits in the mail. The first one is a Jesse Tree felt kitand the second one is 12 days of Christmas felt kit
I am pleased with the materials and am excited to put them all together. Glad I ordered it early so I have plenty of time to prepare. Shipping took almost 2 weeks so if you are interested I would order soon.

Heidi,
Thanks so much for the heads-up! These are the kits that I've had my eye, but they haven't been available except through private emails with the creators.
Leaflet Missal seems to have problems with the links, so I've put the Item numbers and prices below:
Jesse Tree Banner Kit, Item # 12782
$21.00
Twelve Days Christmas, Item # 14006
$8.95
There is also a Jesus Tree Kit to make for Lent:
Jesus Tree Kit, Item # 11938
$21.00

Leaflet Missal also has a simlar kit for Lent. We'll see how long these take to make and if they are a hit or not.
Has anyone tried the Lent one? We do so many other things during Lent, but my kids really seem to like this kind of stuff.

I love these kits and I use them every year despite the fact that my dc are older and (hopefully) know their Bible verses! It did take a bit of time to do all of the cutting and gluing, but I did it in the evening when life seemed to quiet down some. I highly recommend a good pair of scissors (I keep mine for cutting felt only) and a board on which to place the felt for the large cutouts (the Jesse Tree and the Jesus Tree).

Am I reading this right? You have to get both the Jesse Tree and the 12days if you want to complete the 12days? Bummer -- we already have 2 complete Jesse Tree sets (permanent!) but I liked the 12days banner.
Anyone know of another 12days kit that's similar?

Wait, Mary. If you have the Jesse Tree, then you can purchase the 12 days separately. I had the Jesse Tree for a couple of years before they came out with the 12 Days as a separate kit. You just place it on the same banner as the Jesse Tree. Does this make sense? And am I reading you question correctly?

Carole:
Is the Jesus tree the Lent kit? Tell me if you think it is worth it.
Has anyone else used this one?

In our home, definitely yes! We worked through the whole Jesus tree during Lent. It is a bit of work, cutting all of the felt, but not to difficult if you start soon enough.

The problem is that I don't want the Jesse Tree, but I do want the 12 days ...

We have all 3 kits - Jesse Tree, 12 Days, and Jesus Tree (for Lent) - and LOVE them! They are so nice to have and so simple to make (Ok, a nice pair of felt cutting scissors is VERY helpful). These kits, along with the Bible readings that correspond to the felt pieces, are the center of our Advent and Lenten Seasons! Did I mention that I highly recommend them...
God bless,
Christine

Okay, Mary, you can order from the company that makes them or you can order from Leaflet Missal. I think that I have ordered from both. Just purchase the 12-day kit. Now if you don't have the Jesse Tree, then you won't have the banner with the tree and felt backing. But hey, you can be creative with some felt, right? And I bet someone somewhere has saved theirs and you could use it as a pattern, if necessary. Just a thought ...

Mary, I am happy to scan the patterns that you need from the Jesse tree kit onto the computer and email them to you.
Just order the 12 day kit.

I was hoping to order the Jesus tree kit now to work on over the summer for NEXT Lent...and it looks like it is not available anymore. Does anyone know the name of the company so I can order directly from them?

Yes, the company is Scripture Trees. I spoke with owner last January! At the time her inventory was getting low (this was pre-lent) and she said that once they sold out that they wouldn't be making more till next year, after their move.
She also said that their agreement with Leaflet had not been renewed, which would explain why they are no longer available there. However, the kits are only $10.00 each (plus shipping) directly from Scripture Trees, making them much less expensive!
They don't have a website (yet) so you can either email them at scripturetrees[at]usfamily[dot]net, or call 651-426-2174 to place an order. (Hopefully this information hasn't changed?)
Also, I do have close up pictures of all the symbols for the Jesus Tree on my blog under the label Jesus Tree. So you could make it without the patterns if you choose to go that route!
I hope that helps!

We too love our Jesus Tree which we use during Lent.
When we made ours, I simply borrowed the entire set of patterns from a friend and bought the felt I needed at the craft store. At that time, the instructions specifically stated the patterns could be shared in this way. Once I used the patterns, I gave them back to my friend who lent them to another friend and so on. So, perhaps if people are having trouble buying the kit, others would share their patterns.
If your children are into coloring, there are several good sources for coloring pages that correspond to most of the stories told each day as part of the Jesus Tree. The coloring pages kept my little ones busy for a bit of time each day and they really remembered the stories where there was a coloring page.
1. www.first-school.ws/theme/cp_bible.htm - download and print
2. Miracles of Jesus Coloring Book - part of the St. Joseph Coloring Books series. Can be purchased on-line from the Leaflet Missal for $1.50
3. The Life of Jesus Coloring Book from Regina Press. Can be purchased on-line from Leaflet Missal for $1.50.

I have a quick question for those that have this Jesse Tree kit from Scripture Trees (which can be bought from Leaflet Online). Are these the same patterns as on Serendipity? They didn't look the same as the ones in the picture at Leaflet Missal and Jessica's blog, but they weren't close-up. Or are the ones at Serendipity Orthodox symbols? Thanks for any help1

Jenn,
Yes, the symbols on Serendipity are the Scripture Tree symbols, I believe. Katherine wrote/photographed those symbols and posted them to Serendipity... which is why I think she used the Orthodox terminology for the symbols. I remember she used the Scripture Tree symbols (we were cutting them out at the same time!). She then switched to using another set of felt symbols which better represented her Orthodox beliefs. Too confusing?

Jenn,
I only have purchased the Jesus Tree (for Lent) from Scripture Trees, not the Jesse Tree.
For our Jesse Tree I made our own ornaments using the patterns provided in Celebrating the Faith in the Home: Advent and Christmas for the Christian Family.
However, the close-ups at Serendipity and the picture provided at Leaflet appear to be the same.
Hope that helps!
God bless,

I had seen the festal celebrations site, so that was part of my confusion. So Serendipity is a combination? Or purely Scripture Trees? It seems like there are too many for Roman Catholic Advent.
