My dd is 9 yo and took her first communion in first grade. She has only taken the body and not the blood but has asked us when she can take the blood. When did you let your dc take the blood? Should we give her some wine at home so she is perpared for the taste somewhat?

We do allow them to taste wine at home prior to First Communion and then they're allowed the choice to recieve both or just one. I believe all 3 of ours that have recieved FHC have chosen to recieve both.

Our dc had a taste of the wine before the FHC, so they were prepared for the taste. If they are able to receive, I would allow them to if they wanted to. In the Byzantine rite, and EOC, infants receive....
