My two children who are Communicants could use some encouragement and training with quietness and prayer after Communion. They are generally good in Mass, but are easily distracted by their younger siblings who are not receiving.
Does anyone have a favorite prayer for after Communion? I was thinking of printing it out with a holycard affixed and laminating it for them to carry with them and use after they return to the pew? This might help them to focus more effectively.
God bless,
Kathleen

I like:
Little White Guest
You have come to my heart, dearest Jesus,
I am holding You close to my breast;
I'm telling You over and over
You are welcome, O Little White Guest.
I love You, I love You, my Jesus.
Oh, please, do not think I am bold;
Of course, You must Know that I love You,
But I'm sure that You like to be told.
And now that You've come, dearest Jesus,
To nestle so close to my breast,
I whisper, "I love You, my Jesus,
You are welcome, O Little White Guest."
I'll whisper, "I love You, my Jesus,"
And ask that we never may part;
I love You, O kind, loving Jesus,
And press You still nearer my heart.
And when I shall meet You in Heaven,
My soul then will lean on Your breast,
And You will recall our fond meetings,
When You were my Little White Guest.
and "Anima Christi" There are different translations, this is one:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen
I've always like this version:
Soul of Christ, be my sanctification;
Body of Christ, be my salvation;
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;
Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains;
Passion of Christ, my comfort be;
O good Jesu, listen to me;
In Thy wounds I fain would hide,
Ne'er to be parted from Thy side;
Guard me, should the foe assail me;
Call me when my life shall fail me;
Bid me come to Thee above,
With Thy saints to sing Thy love,
World without end. Amen.

I love The Little White Guest. I will print this out for my littles, too. I have had my oldest always read this prayer (on the back of our missalette at church):
Thanksgiving After Mass
Lord, Father all-powerful and ever-living God, I thank You, for even though I am a sinner, your unprofitable servant, not because of my worth but in the kindness of your mercy, You have fed me with the Precious Body and Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me condemnation and punishment but forgiveness and salvation. May it be a helmet of faith and a shield of good will. May it purify me from evil ways and put an end to my evil passions. May it bring me charity and patience, humility and obedience, and growth in the power to do good. May it be my strong defense against all my enemies, visible and invisible, and the perfect calming of all my evil impulses, bodily and spiritual. May it unite me more closely to you, the One true God, and lead me safely through death to everlasting happiness with You. And I pray that You will lead me, a sinner, to the banquet where you, with Your Son and holy Spirit, are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy, gladness without end, and perfect happiness to your saints. Grant this through Christ our Lord, AMEN.

I love this one also. It has music too. My younger kids love to sing it. Not at Mass of course.

Little White Guest and Anima Christi (Soul of Christ) were the two my mother taught me as a child and I still say today, I've taught all my children these two as well - both very beautiful.

Hmmmmm. Looking back at my post it looks like I'm raising little heathens.
It's a beautiful prayer that my children learned to music.
I meant I don't let them sing it out loud after receiving Communion.
