Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Arg!

My eldest 3 have become involved with our local youth group...it is brand new at our church. About 1/2 of the attendence there has been from the homeschoolers of the parish...(they go to Mass and know about and love their faith). I see that some of the things they want to do in the future make me feel uncomfortable... please don't throw tomatoes if you don't agree with me...but! Holy Mass is a place of sacred worship and I don't think a praise and worship rock band and teen mass on Sunday Mass is the direction we want to go in....

I was hoping that I could offer a viable solution for this and other things that aren't quite what they should be...

My question is...
what kinds of options can I offer the group leader as something that would engage our parish youths without me coming across in the wrong way? Who knows if she is open or not, but I won't know until I try. I don't think just withdrawing without saying a word would be best. I thought I would offer some suggestions when I tell her why we won't be participating....but what words do I use?

My kids said it best..."we just want to have fun with our friends and when it comes to "youth events"...we want to be FED"

maybe they should have Adoration time?? the community of St John hold wonderful, reverent, adoration times for teen and young adults. they are in the Newark Diocese, maybe look them up through there??
