Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the right forum or not....
I volunteered to lead a group of girls in our Catholic home school group, ages 10-15. We'd meet once per month before our First Friday Mass from September through May in the church basement. I've been thinking and thinking what would be fun, maybe challenging and yet easy to implement. It's a bit tricky with the age differences. I've considered Little Flowers...some type of Junior Great Books program? Anyone have any ideas? Resources? Experiences? What has worked?
Thanks in advance and God bless!
Angela

We've done something we call Merciful Maidens. The overriding theme is basically service projects for others in one way or another. We've produced dinners (don't know if you could do this at your church) for new moms and sick moms, made blankets for babies, made nightlight shades and given them with the nightlights to the foster children program so the children will have an item that is truly theirs and comforting, and more. Our girls had all done the Little Flowers program and this was a good natural extension.

Have you seen Pilgrims of the Holy Family? It's in the CHC catalog. Our group is starting a group this year. It looks like a lot of fun. HTH, Valerie

Kacky,
What beautiful things your group did. How did you come up with these ideas? Was someone in touch with a crisis pregnancy or foster care group? Would you mind elaborating a bit if you get the chance?

The girls here in our group are about to begin wreath IV of Little Flowers for Confirmation prep, while the younger girls will go back to to wreath I. Many of the girls have begun to knit for charity, St Rafka Knitting Circle. Jess ( our hostess) can elaborate more, but they are knitting a quilts for charity.

This is beautiful!
May I ask what the Little Flowers program is?

I have been asked by our priest to start a youth group in our church - we do not have a Catholic high school in our town so once the kids leave primary school and head to High (in grade 8) they receive no faith instruction anymore and most of the teens rarely attend Mass after that.
My first thing is to find youth to attend, then to plan what we will be doing. There will be both boys and girls so ANY help in what I can offer is MOST appreciated.
I used to teach Christian drama to youth in a Protestant church before I converted, but this feels very different.
