For those whose children attend Atrium, do you mind sharing how much it costs? It will be costing us $85/month this year for four kids, and I'm wondering if that is typical. It's going to be a real sacrifice for us.
ETA: I just wanted to add that even with the expense, we are so grateful and blessed to HAVE an Atrium near us.

$85 a month?
In our last parish, which all the RE was CGS/Atrium, it was $90 per child, per year, but you could pay $10/mo, and there were partial scholarships.

Laura,
I'm so glad you posted--obviously I need to clarify! This is not in a parish, but in someone's home. They are making and supplying all the materials, and our fees go toward that and toward catechist training. It's clearly not a money-making venture for this family. They have given over a good portion of their home and time to make the Atrium available to families. It's just that, for us, $85/month is a stretch, and I was wondering if others in different parts of the country have similar expenses.
Wish our parish offered Atrium! The cost sounds very reasonable.

Our two parishes are starting two atriums (one at each parish) - we're taking a loss this year, but getting a lot of people to make most of the materials which is SUCH a blessing...
We are charging $30/year for the first child, $40 for 2 children and $50/year for 3+ children. Next year's atrium costs are likely to come down (currently, all children, atrium and non-atrium, pay the same rate) as the books will still need to be purchased for the other grades, but the atrium will only need to replace minimal materials....

Last year it was $60 total for two kids for the year. I thought that was an unbelievable bargain.

My three youngest children have gone to an atrium in someone's home for the past two years. I paid $20 a month per child. Karen

I just registered my three year old at our parish and it was $60 for the year. I am excited that he is old enough this year to participate.

Our atrium is on the expensive side, but I feel it's worth every penny. I think we're paying on average $55 per month for one child.

Um, free! We did our Atrium as a coop. Each family (mom ;) ) had a part to play. Many of us were trained in Level 1 (we hosted, so the training was free for us), we had a level 2 catechist with an assistant (no formal training) and a level 3 catechist. We also had 1 or 2 moms just to watch babies (and a few babies in the Atria). We started with a supplied Atrium and we each helped buy new items (wine, paper, folders, etc).
I know if I had to pay even $10 per month per child, it would never work for me. Now, I have a nearly complete level 1 in my home.
Good Luck!
