Hi - I have a First Communicant this year and will be teaching the Mass - Does anyone know of any good resources or Lesson Plans out there that incorporates the whole family? I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to!
Thanks!

Amy,
I came across this book and have just started with it. It is a hands-on activity book, and it teaches the Mass in parts. I am looking forward to getting more into it with my First Communicant child and his younger brother.
There were some threads on First Communion a while ago. Here's a link to one of them.
Hope this helps!

Amy,
When I did sac prep a couple of years ago, I found this book by Michael Dubriel, The How-to Book of the Mass to be a GREAT resource for me. It filled in lots of stuff I either never learned or forgot in my 16 years of Catholic School education .
For lesson plans, CHC's 2nd grade lp has a supplement that is wonderful for FHC prep .... here's a link to CHC's page with their suggested resources. That should at least get you started int he right directin.

We love CAT Chat CD's and we are currently listening to the one about the mass in the car--my kids love it!
We also have Fr. Antoine's DVD,The Mass Unveiled, while a little dry, I plan on watching a section a week and discussing it.

How about a lapbook. The Mass lapbook will be available in the fall.

I am preparing a first communicant this year too. Here are my mass resources:
Understanding the Mystery of the Mass
A Child's Missal
Maria Montessori's The Mass Explained to Children with the mini mass kit from Our Father's House (no more time for links)
I think we'll do the lapbook project for his Communion notebook.

Thanks for the great suggestions! Donna - I will look forward to the Mass lapbook! I actually have alot of these resources. I have the CHC 2nd gr. lesson plan - just wanted to go into the Mass in more detail for the older kids. I will be using MM's Mass Explained to Children, too.
Thanks!
