Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know about 9 hour novenas? Can you do one to any Saint or are there just certain ones that can be used in a 9 hour novena? I have an urgent need and can't wait 9 days and wanted to do a certain novena.

Yes! It is called the "Storm Novena" and it is a novena that consists of nine visits to the Blessed Sacrament IN ONE DAY (I'll tell you more about how I did this with small children after..) Praying on your knees (to show our helplessness and dependance on God) with outstretched arms (like Moses who, as long as he prayed with arms outstretched sustained his army in fighting successfully - also reminiscent of Jesus' outstretched arms on the cross)to obtain a speedy and unfailing answer to prayer. Like a storm, it is a forceful assault in the form of ardent prayers to heaven - at the very throne of God!

Here is an explanation...

"The Storm Novena (before the Blessed Sacrament)

As a matter of interest there is another novena which is called "The Storm Novena". It consists of visiting the Blessed Sacrament nine times in the one day and praying there on your knees with your arms outstretched to pray for your petitions.

You can choose any prayers that you like to say at these visits. (Some suggestions of mine are any novena prayers to saints or to Our Lady, or some Our Fathers, Hail Marys and Glorias, or a decade of the Rosary at each visit). Anyway just choose the prayers that you wish to say and tell Our Lord the favours that you are asking Him for.

You always make a fervent Act of Contrition at the first of the nine visits. Full information on this particular novena and its history can be found in a little book entitled "The Storm Novena" It is written by a Capuchin Father of St. Benedict the Moor Mission. A search of the internet can locate for you places where this book is sold. I promise you that you will find the history of this novena very interesting. It is a novena with a reputation of "delivering the goods" in other words obtaining favours from Our Lord."

O.K. When I did it, I prayed an Act of Contrition and then prayed "O Sacred HEart of Jesus, have mercy on us and grant us our request" and "Our Lady of Perpetual Help - pray for us and obtain our request". Then I prayed the the Memorare and then I asked a litany of saints to pray for this intention (eg) St Joseph - pray for us and obtain our request
St. Jude- pray for us and obtain our request etc etc

As for praying before the Blessed Sacrament, NINE consecutive times in one day, I went to www.savior.org

There they have a live feed of perpetual adoration!!! You can do this novena in front of your COMPUTER! What I did was nine times in the day (usually at the top of the hour nine hours in a row) I went to Savior.org to adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and prayed the above prayers on my knees with my arms outstretched.
The novena worked! I did receive a miraculous answer to my prayers. This is my go-to prayer when desperate!!!

Mary,

THANK YOU! When I first began reading, my heart sank as we live 20 minutes from the local church. It cost us $8 to go to town and back just once! It is so wonderful to have the Eucharist on the internet.

I did the 9 hour Infant of Prague novena in December of 2006 while trying to race against the clock with adoption deadlines. It was truly miraculous in so many ways!!!
I am teary-eyed watching my miracle asleep on our bed right now.

I don't know how to link...I got the novena by googling it.

God bless,

Marybeth

Beautiful, Marybeth! That's the only emergency 9 hour novena I was familiar with. Infant of Prague site has the novena.

I've resorted to the "Flying Novena" that Mother Teresa and her order use -- 9 memorares for the petition, and then 9 memorares for thanksgiving.
