Since Easter was SO early, this is one of those rare weird years where Ascension Thursday is May 1st and then all the big "June" solemnities are in MAY: Pentecost (on Mother's Day), Trinity Sunday, Corpus Christi, Feast of the Sacred Heart (31st!!)
I'm reminding myself because I have a lot of plans for celebrating them... but I know my "rhythm" will be thrown off because I don't expect them in MAY.

Pentecost is Mother's Day? How weird is that? About as weird as St. Joseph and St. Patrick being the Saturday before Holy Week, I guess...
Thanks for the heads up!

Wow - I did my May plans and did not even realize that Corpus Christi is in May! When doing my May plans I had to scale down as there was SO MUCH to celebrate!

Wow! That's going to be one busy Sunday at my parish. First Holy Communions (including my Michael), crowning of the Blessed Virgin, Pentecost, Mother's Day (which includes a blessing of all mothers there). Please pray that my 2yo Theresa is quiet during Mass. We usually end up in the van, since she is too loud even for the closed off entry way into Church.
God bless,
Mary-NY

What are your plans for these days? I'd love to hear of them.

Here is my general plan:
- Do an atrium narrative presentation of Ascension Thursday and Pentecost using my clothespin dolls (part of this presentation is reading the Scriptural account of these events) and then meditating on either heaven, the Holy Spirit, etc.
- learn songs for each feast day and practice them the preceding week
- say a novena prayer to the Holy Spirit in preparation for Pentecost
- during the family rosary concentrate on the mystery that celebrates the Feast day
- add items to the family "holy table" that reflects the feast (ie. candles, cloths, and pictures)
- eat a special dessert for each of the feasts. Most of the time I'm a simple chef, though -- it will probably all revolve around ice cream and whipped cream and the liturgical colors. Nothing fancy.
- for Corpus Christi, I'm working on an atrium presentation about Eucharistic processions since our parish will be having one and all the songs that go with it.
If you're interested, I'll be posting our preparation plans at the beginning of the week and then our pictures on the day of the feast on my homeschool blog, but I'm sure a lot more 4Realers will have more elaborate plans than mine.

It surely has been a strange year! My dh is the organist and choir director, and all three kids and I are in his adult choir, and it's been a year very different than the *norm*, because of our early Easter! We feel like we haven't had a breather since Christmas!!!

Thanks, Maryan. I had just picked up a little pamphlet that has ideas for these feast days, and was thinking that I'll come back to it in a little while. Yeah, right.
May is proving itself to be the busiest month this year. I'll have to work things in during the week or find more "portable" ways. We're just not going to be around much for various reasons. Sadly these are some key feast days that don't have many books to accompany them. That's my usual fallback.
Just a note, Sacred Heart is May 30, Visitation is May 31st. I had to go check. I'm relieved because I just don't think I could handle ONE MORE moved feast.

I posted my May plans last week - here they are:
May is Mary's Month
There is so much to do in May. I kind of feel like Tracy above - no breather since Christmas!!
