A friend of mine gave me permission to post a request she sent to our local homeschooling group. I told her I knew a group of ladies who can always be counted upon to come up with great ideas.

Hello!
I was wondering if you could help me with a lap book
project I want to make with my children. I was
thinking of preparing for the feast of Our Lady of
Fatima on October 13 (I think it is also celebrated on
May 13) by making a lap book. There are a number of
good themes with the Fatima apparition, prayers given,
instruction given, sacrifice, 6 apparitions. I'm
wondering if anyone has tried this or another project
that I could incorporate into my lapbook. I haven't
started yet, but thought I would ask for some help.

Some thoughts (maybe there is something here she could use):
-Info about Portugal
    maps
    religious history
    other well-known Portuguese saints (St. Anthony of Padua, St. Elizabeth of Portugal, St. Isabel of Portugal)

Comparison of these apparitions to others that are nearby in the Iberian area (Garabandal, Spain & Lourdes, France)

History/background of Fatima, Portugal and it's ties to the Moors/Muslims (was named for a Moslem princess who converted to Christianity). There are some interesting connections to Mary and the Moslems- very interesting read here from Archbishop Fulton Sheen.

Oh, I started a post and lost it! Where's my head!?

How about the historical perspective? Mary talks about wars, and the three little children had no idea about the WWI...and then we have the WWII!!!

Love the Moor perspective...I had no idea about that.

How about the lapbook including personal depictions of what the vision of hell and the miracle of the sun would look like to each child?

How about some Portuguese recipes after trying them out? What would these children eat while shepherding?

Mary really encouraged sacrifices, which the young children tried so hard. How about a list of ideas that each child thinks of where they could do sacrifices?
