Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are wanting to buy a book for each one of our kids for Christmas- we do this each year (an easy tradition to uphold for booky parents).

This year my dh wanted to buy them books each telling the story of a Saint.

Three that he has found are...
Brigid's Cloak: An Ancient Irish Tale
The Blackbird's Nest: St. Kevin of Ireland

Brother Bartholomew and the Apple Grove

We wanted to find books that centre on celtic saints.

Has anyone read any of the above books? Would you recommend them?

Any other suggestions???

Thank-you

YES! We read Brigid's Cloak this year---we managed to get it via an interlibrary loan for her feastday! It is a lovely book and story, and the illustrations are lovely too! I so wanted to keep it! It is on my Amazon wish list :-)

St Brigid's Cloak is beautiful and has a Christmas theme as well.

St Kevin's is a wonderful book especially if you have any children who may have learning/behaviour difficulties, he certainly is a saint for many children these days who face ADD, Asperges etc, and it is good they can find a friend in Kevin.

Brother Bartholomew is beautifully illustrated as well, as are all three of these books.

Here is another lovely Celtic saint picture book we have, and I think it might be the same illustrator as St Kevin's:

St Ciaran: A Tale of a Saint of Ireland

There are a few picture books on St Patrick? A Tomie dePaola one and there is a beautiful one I bought a few weeks ago, I can get back with a link if you like?
