In a couple of different threads that I've been involved in, it's been mentioned that you guys make it through doubt and worry by abandoning everything to God and asking him to cover you where you lack. I've been thinking about this lately and I don't do a very good job of this.
I think I struggle with some pride issues. When the really big crises in life come up people are usually amazed at how well I handle them. I find it exceptionally easy to turn to God in those situations. It's obvious to me that I can't handle these things and God can. I truly don't struggle much with them. God carries me.
It's the little day-to-day crises that overwhelm me and I think it's in large part because I don't turn to God for these. I suppose somewhere in me unaware, I think I don't need to call on God for these little things. I can get through these myself. But the truth is that I do struggle a great deal with all the little day-to-day things. I am sometimes quite neurotic.
So...I need a concrete plan for turning to God daily and asking him to carry me through daily things too. Do you guys have a favorite prayer/s that you turn to in asking God to cover your failings as a parent/homeschooler and that helps you abandon yourself to His will in your parenting/homeschooling?

Prayer of Trust
I will depend on God alone;
I will put my hope in him.
He alone protects and saves me;
he is my defender, and I shall never
be defeated.
My salvation and honor depend on God: he is my
strong protector, he is my shelter.
I will trust in God at all times. I will tell him
my troubles for he is my refuge. Amen.
I also like the Serenity prayer.
God bless,
Marybeth

This is one of my favorites:
Learning Christ
Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle
In all the events of my life -
in disappointments,
in the thoughtlessness of others,
in the insincerity of those I trusted,
in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.
Let me put myself aside,
to think of the happiness of others,
to hide my little pains and heartaches,
so that I may be the only one to suffer from them.
Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path.
Let me so use it that it may mellow me,
not harden nor embitter me;
that it may make me patient, not irritable.
that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow, haughty and overbearing.
May no one be less good for having come within my influence. No one less pure, less trusted, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow-traveler in our journey toward ETERNAL LIFE.
As I go my rounds from one distraction to another, let me whisper from time to time, a word of love to Thee. May my life be lived in the super-natural, full of power for good, and strong in its purpose of sanctity.

Maybe something from this thread might help, too: I Need to Slow Down...

I don't have a particular prayer.
When I started homeschooling, I dedicated our homeschool to our Blessed Mother and just asked her to fill in the gaps I knew I'd leave, or show me how to fill them. I made an altar in her honor and knelt before it then and though we don't live at that house anymore, I can still picture and "visit" that altar in my heart.
When I get into worry mode, I rededicate the homeschool to her.
When I'm struggling with what to do about something, I ask the Holy Spirit for help. “The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”
Plus, I've often invoked the beautiful graces promised to us by the Sacrament of Matrimony, that give us what we need to raise our children and be truly united to our spouses.
1641 "By reason of their state in life and of their order, [Christian spouses] have their own special gifts in the People of God."145 This grace proper to the sacrament of Matrimony is intended to perfect the couple's love and to strengthen their indissoluble unity. By this grace they "help one another to attain holiness in their married life and in welcoming and educating their children."146 .... Christ dwells with them, gives them the strength to take up their crosses and so follow him, to rise again after they have fallen, to forgive one another, to bear one another's burdens, to "be subject to one another out of reverence for Christ,"148 and to love one another with supernatural, tender, and fruitful love. In the joys of their love and family life he gives them here on earth a foretaste of the wedding feast of the Lamb:
I do my most regular "mother" type praying at night when something wakes me up, and before I go to sleep at night. Sometimes when I am waking up and thinking of what I have to do in the day, as well.

I start the day with a beautiful prayer to Our Lady that the nuns of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery sent me called Anima Mariae:
Soul of Mary, sanctify me.
Heart of Mary, inflame me.
Hands of Mary, support me.
Feet of Mary, direct me.
Immaculate eyes of Mary, look upon me.
Lips of Mary, speak for me.
Sorrows of Mary, strengthen me.
O Mary, hear me.
In the Wound of the Heart of Jesus, hide me.
Let me never be seperated from thee.
From my enemy defend me.
At the hour of my death call me.
And bid me come to thy Immaculate Heart; that thus I may come to the Heart of Jesus, and there with the saints praise thee for all eternity. Amen.
I find it very powerful and notice the difference when I pray it and when I don't.
I've often heard about invoking the graces of Matrimony as Willa said, but I don't know of any certain formula to say. Is there one out there? If not, what do you say?

A prayer very compatible with this is Anima Christi. Scroll down and find the link on the righthand side.
You'll never again say this prayer after receiving the body of Christ without having a song in your heart.

I agree. I love this prayer. Here's a version that includes the Latin: Anima Christi. The Latin flows so nicely.
I found this version years ago and liked the rhyming pattern just a bit more. This poetic text by Cardinal Newman:
Soul of Christ, be my sanctification;
Body of Christ, be my salvation.
Blood of Christ, fill all my veins;
Water from Christ’s side, wash out my stains.
Passion of Christ, my comfort be.
O good Jesus, listen to me.
In Thy wounds I fain would hide
Ne’er to be parted from Thy side.
Guard me should the foe assail me;
Call me when my life shall fail me.
Bid me come to Thee above
With Thy saints to sing Thy love
World without end. Amen.
In my search I found this interesting article about the authorship of "Anima Christi."

Oh thank you all! Beautiful prayers and suggestions. I love the Anima Christi. I need to memorize it. I have pieces of it in my head and these pieces always come to me after receiving Jesus in the Eucharist. I agree it is a beautiful prayer (and sung beautifully in the link you provided Cay ).
When I first became Catholic the missals in our church had a listing of about 6 common prayers on the back of the booklet. The Anima Christi was one that I turned to frequently. They changed books a while back and I realized that one of my favorite prayers was missing. I've been meaning to search it out and your mention of the Anima Christi reminded me to search. It's the Offering and Prayer of St. Ignatius Loyola -- "Suscipe"
Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All that I am and all that I possess You have given me: I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I will be rich enough, and will desire nothing more.
I just remember everytime I read that prayer wishing that God would take everything from me and leave me only with His love and grace. I wanted to desire only that.
I've really missed that prayer and I'm glad this discussion has helped me rediscover my old favorite and given me new ones to turn to as well.
Thanks so much everyone!

I begin each day with a prayer to the Blessed Mother asking her to help me to be more like her, to help me to make our home like her home in Nazareth, and, above all, to help me to be patient and kind to the precious little souls her Son has entrusted to my care. There is no set formula for this prayer, but I find that if I take a few moments to ask for Our Lady's help and guidance in my day, she never lets me down.
Many thanks for all the excellent suggestions here!

I do not deserve your kind words, but I am very thankful to you for saying them. Now if only I could live up to them!
Many thanks.
