Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was wondering (hoping) that some of you wonderful ladies would have some sources or links for non-Western images of Mary. I also have quite a few from the traditional Orthodox iconography.

I am more looking for Asian, American (North and South), and African interpretations.

Thank you for any help you can give us.

I don't know if these images would be helpful to you, but the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception here in DC has many non-Western shrines to Mary. I've always really loved that about the Shrine. They have a virtual tour online.

Thanks, Susan.

The Shrine is so beautiful. I am hoping that someday we can go in person.

One of the images I love is Our Lady of La Vang. You can see a better picture with this statue. They used to have a smaller (and hence less expensive) version, but I couldn't find it. I hope to be able to buy it someday. . .
