Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have been doing my best to find good deals on the Catholic Mosaic list, and am quite pleased with the progress Im making, but when I got to this title I couldnt believe the prices, even for used copies. Is this book out of print? Does anyone have any idea where I could get a copy for less than thirty dollars? I tried googling it, and that was the cheapest I could find it. Im going to keep my eyes open at the thrift stores and Im hoping one of our libraries here has it to lend.
Anybody have any suggestions on getting a used copy for a reasonable price?

Oh and a side note...
I had not intended to include any religious instruction per se in our homeschool curriculum. We have a Waldorf background, and my son has a strong affinity for the saints, which have been included to some extent in his language arts lessons. I thought Id best leave the religious instruction to his Faith Formation teachers...until I read about Catholic Mosaic, and became positively inspired to include this reading list in our curriculum. I am very much in favor of using the natural rhythms of the seasons in planning our days and weeks, now we are able to add this beautiful layer to those rhythms by celebrating the liturgical year in this special way.
Thank you so much for introducing me to the Catholic Mosaic concept. I am very excited to begin this journey with my son.

Both our public library and our parish library and our atrium have 2 copies of this book.

if it is too pricey check those places...if you dont have a parish library ask the religious education teachers they may have a copy they would lend you...

though Id ask for a hefty collateral before lending out my Mosaic books

We begin Faith Formation classes on Monday, I will ask them then. We don't have a parish library, but perhaps one of the instructors has a copy we could borrow...thank you for the idea. Im also going to keep my eyes open at used book sales and thrift stores...

keep your eye out at book sales, etc. I've found 2 copies in the past year at thrift store and a library book sale.

On ABE books and Alibris they have a couple under thirty dollars. This is the cheapest I found at twenty dollars. At least, I think it is the same book since the illustrator is the same. The cheaper ones were by a different author.

Thanks for the encouraging words about finding the book at thrift sales, Suzanne. I will continue to keep my eyes open.
Twenty dollars is a huge step down from what I found on ebay and amazon...but, Ive already invested quite a bit of money in the books on the list...I just can't spend that much on one book. I will continue to wait and see what the Universe might drop at my doorstep.
Thank you for the links. I had never heard of those sites before.

Well, I caved and bought the twenty dollar one. I saw that the MSRP for the book new is 16.95, which is not so far off from 20.00.
While waiting for the books Ive ordered to come in, we have been enjoying a book called Brother Sun, Sister Moon. It contains several stories about St. Francis. Im really enjoying watching my 7 year-old as he processes the idea that St. Francis was both brave enough to tame a wolf and gentle enough to befriend and speak to birds. As Ive said before, my son has a great affinity for many of the Saints (and is very much still "into" pretend-play) so exploring them as Archetypes as well as historial figures is a really good way for him to learn important lessons...another reason Im really excited about this study.
