Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am wondering if anyone has seen or has already developed anything similar to Trivia Pursuit for the Baltimore Catechism.

Alternatively, does anyone have any fun/game/hands-on suggestions for going through it? I like the idea of some "dry-memorization" as well but I'd still like something the whole family could participate in.

I've been considering doing something similar to the trivia game mentioned above and have not yet found anything online, but I'm sure I've not hit every possible website either. So if anyone has any suggestions let me know - I would appreciate the input; otherwise work begins next week, and I would definitely appreciate any advice/ideas as to the creation of the work.

My current criteria:
family-oriented
non-competitive
(potentially) cards sorted either by topic or by age
more likely sorted by topic and subdivided on the card by age
somehow incorporate Scripture/Church-document references as well as a second set of cards with references to CCC

Please share any thoughts!

Thank you and God Bless!

Jessica,

We love the Divinity Game It is based on the CCC rather than the Balitmore Catechism, it fits your criteria but it is a board game, so you could say it is competitive...

I also can personally recommend this: Catholic Faith FActs Q&A for Lent and Easter - it fits all your above requirements, except the referencing - this was wonderful during lent.

Wow - thank you for these quick responses!
The Divinity game looks interesting - I think someone I know has one, so I may have to see if I could go visit one day and have their kids play it with me.

I did finally see an entire set of the Friendly Defenders cards and I plan to order those later in the week (they will help ME with the door-to-door evangelists). Catholic Faith Facts sounds fun as well as well as the flipbook - something towards what I was thinking for the Baltimore Catechism. I am really hoping to find (or if needed, make) something quite similar specifically for memorizations of the Baltimore Catechism.

I may need to just replace some or all of our other board/card games with specifically Catholic ones.

Have you seen any of Monica McConkey's resources?

She wrote a self-published book A Treasure Chest of Traditions for Catholic Families. It's got some great ideas in Ordinary Time of "Cathletics", using different activities, games and memorization techniques to learn elements from the Catechism, with suggestions for Bingo, Flash cards, Catechism Cube, Trivia Cube, Definition a Day, Jeopardy, Momentum Builder Grid, etc. There are many, many ideas.

After the book she also had some premade Cathletics You can see some here
and here.

I also found this game

Wonderful ideas! Thank you all! If I end up still making something, after sorting through these ones, I will post about it.
