Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a book I have pulled out of my bookcase with renewed appreciation in the last few days - I am cataloging all my books and all the saints stories IN the books onto computer and then putting them in the order of the days of the year for quick reference when reading about the saint or feast of the day.

Treasury of Catholic Stories is a book jam-packed with little stories and interesting snippets of the saint's lives - there is about 125 stories in all, they are catagorized in the book under headings such as:

The Cardinal Virtues (so the saints stories listed come under this category)
The Corporal Works of Mercy
etc.

Here is the titles of some of the saint's stories:

"Earthquake and Volcano" - The Veil of St Agatha Saves a Frightened City

"And Then - ?" - St Philip Neri Asks the Ultimat Question.

The Seven Sleepers "A Strange and Facinating Tale About Living and Dying for the Faith" (we really love this one and read it on Easter Sunday and will read again on the Seven Sleeper's feast day.)

"Deathbed Triumph" His Guardian Angel and the Voice of Mary Calmed St Andrew Avellino

This is great if you want to read a quick but powerful and interesting point in a saint's life, my children love them and so do I!

I was planning to post this a few days ago, but I noticed that Rachel has just posted that Adoremus is having an Easter sale, the hardback is usually $24.95 and the softback is $14.95 - the hardback, which we have, has a dust cover too.
