Maybe this will show my ignorance, but most of you have seen THAT already, so I'll ask my question without fear.
Anyway, I have been visiting some new blogs lately due to the great links in the blog awards site, and I keep coming upon the term "Resurrection Day" being used in place of Easter.
Can someone tell me why this term is being used? I mean, obviously Easter is resurrection day, but is there some problem with the term "Easter" in some circles? Is it an anti-Catholic thing?
Just curious.

It has to do with the word Easter having a pagan origin. I'm NAK now, then off to Daisy Scouts, so I'll leave a more specfic explanation to some one else. You could try googling it, too.

I'm back (sans baby) and I see no one has given you a better answer. Here's a site that sums it up:
What is the origin of Easter?

I noticed this for the first time this year. To me, it is just another Protest-ant thing. Protesting the fact that Easter is scheduled when it is and called what it is.
There are some who don't celebrate Christmas at all, because, after all, the date is based on Tradition and it isn't in the bible.
I'm so glad that I can joyful embrace what Holy Mother Church has given me and don't have anything to protest, change, question, and mutate things into something else just for the sake of rejecting Tradition.

I was on a non-denominational forum in Australia for buying and selling books and I use to visit their ajoining chit chat section, it is here that I discovered just how many women from other denominations do not celebrate Christmas and Easter, that they saw it coming from evil origins - I was extremely sad to realize there was such an extreme and false view amongst some christians. Of course, I tend to think it is still in the minority and that usually these feasts are a great time to show our unity and love with other christians from other denominations. Our Gregorian Chant Choir sung at a fundraising event for the poor at Christmas, it was arranged by all the christin churches including the local Catholic church in this small town and was held at the Lutheran church due to it's favourable accoustics.
