Greetings! We are installing a Mary's Garden tomorrow in memory of our daughter Katherine who died in December. Katherine was very ill for all of her time on earth and we know that Our Lady interceded for her repeatly. This is our attempt to honor and praise in a public fashion. We have invited all the people who played a role in Katherine's life to help.
I wondered if any others had Mary's Gardens.
Blessings!
Theresa

Hi Theresa,
I have a Mary Garden. It started when my husband got me an outdoor statue of Mary one year for Mother's Day. We put her in an area of our yard where there are two crabapple trees. In the spring, when the blossoms are out it is beautiful and when they fall it looks like pink snow all around Mary! The area just begged for more flowers so I've made it into a garden. I'm slowly collecting Mary plants to put around her. We've also added a bench. It's the prettiest spot in our yard!

Theresa,
That sounds so wonderful in memory of your daughter. What a lovely idea!
I don't have a Mary Garden yet, but looking forward to hearing people's descriptions of their own. We just bought a house and that's another thing I can plan! If you need some ideas, see Mary's Gardens and a great book is Mary's Flowers, Gardens, Legends and Meditations.

We hope to start a Mary Garden this fall/winter when the temp cools here in AZ. Thanks for starting and contributing to this thread. If all goes as planned, I'll update in a few months.
Love,

We put the first of the three stages of Katherine's Mary's Garden last weekend. We paid a professional designer to come up with a plan. All of the children's names are included in the plants. We had over 30 people come to help and we were overwhelmed with all the love and support. The gentleman who brought the load of mulch ended up donating it in Katherine's memory.
Lots of those who came had never heard of a Mary's Garden. We had a large poster with information about the plants we selected (they have a mourning theme) and about Mary's Garden's in general.
The day was beautiful and another great remembrance of the effect that Katherine had on the people around her.
Blessings!
Theresa

I think she still is! How nice of the gentleman to donate the mulch to you. I am so glad that your family and friends were with you and helping you make a beautiful place to honor Katherine.
