Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We're beginning to study Tchaikovsky and I ordered the music masters cd, but I'm not sure how to choose a good listening cd. I'd like quality and quantity for a good price. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Macbeth, are you going to add to your music page? It's seems like you were going to go through the composers and recommend some cds but you never got the chance?

Many thanks!

I've been meaning to mention this to her too, as she and the others here are my sole sources for answers to your question...

I don't know whether they are available in the US, but I often buy recordings put out under the Naxos label. They are low priced, but decent quality - many are performed by good orchestras from eastern Europe. They also do some nice "best of ..." selections.

Aha! Just looked on Amazon and found this

I am going to update soon. It just occured to me that I have 7 or 8 pages that have been "under construction" for way too long.

I have a few favorite group recordings. I like the major symphonies, but their recordings can be more expensive. I like some soloists better than others.

A friends of mine who is a composer told me that he chose the London Symphony for his latest recording (here's their Tchaikovsky) because they are uniquely skilled at following the instructions of the composer. I am not sure how well they treat the dead .

I have seen the Naxos lable popping up all over the place recently. I'm glad to know that they are of good quality.
