Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have her book Romancing the Ordinary and check out Mrs. Sharp's Traditions from the library whenever I need a creative shot in the imagination.

I love her writing and understand
Simple Abundance is a beautiful book.

However, I remember reading somewheres that Breathnach had become "new agey". Or there any of her books that we should avoid? I haven't found anything in Romancing that seemed downright offensive to me.

I found Simple Abundance very new-agy, Cay . But I also think that you bring to a book your own outlook, as well.

I still prefer Mrs. Sharp overall. Romancing the Ordinary sounds like it was written for me.

I heard her writing had changed somewhat since her divorce and become even more touchy-feely New-Agey , even though I found Simple Abundance incredibly New-Agey as well...(but still with gleanable points).   I go back and forth about donating mine to the library! ?

That's the only one I've read...

I had Simple Abundance and finally decided there just wasn't enough in that book that I liked to justify the shelf space that it took up so mine got donated to the library. I loved the idea of having a reading each day that followed the seasons with decorating ideas and activity suggestions, but there was just too much of a new-agey/self-focused slant for my tastes. Also, I have noticed it frequently at Goodwill and at library sales so if it a book you want you might want to see if you can pick it up used inexpensively.

Thank you all for your input.

I found the Romancing the Ordinary book somewheres (forget where) for real cheap. I was reading some more last night and did come across a section that disturbed me.

She tries defining the magic of magic while excusing that sometimes it is referred to as witchcraft.

I am all for finding the beauty in things and this book has several beautiful thoughts and wisdom in it. But this section definitely crossed the imaginary line.

Not for young teenage readers...

I gave all her books away that I had this past spring. I would rather read people's blog instead. I just couldn't keep everything I had along with loading up at booksales for ds.

I would love for someone to write something along the lines of these books for Catholics...um...CAY...are busy with much these days???
