Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Lsat year I used this wonderful internet site that included art history and great hands on projects. I thought the address (oh my do I need to re-organize my favorites!)wa scribbleskidsart.com. But the site seems to exist no longer. I keep art simple ( a new artists every 6 weeks) and I am artistically challenged...any other good resources out there? Or should I break down and buy Discovering Great Artsits (our library does not have a copy)--it is a very user-friendly resource.

Laura,
Thanks to a very generous mom and her helpers we have a monthly artist study. I have found it to be so helpful since she picks the artist and posts the prints. If I want to delve further into the topic, we pick up a Mike Venezia book at the library and do a google search for more info. Here are: Da Vinci, Cassatt, Rembrandt, Ansel Adams and Australian Ken Done.

It's also really helpful that some of these artists were chosen for timing, such as Cassatt during May to emphasize Mother's Day and Ken Done during Aug. in honor of Blessed Mary MacKillop, Australia's saint.

I did find that KinderArt has a good selection of Art history, architecture and cultural projects.

I found the website, here where you said it would be. I've never seen it, it looks really great. Maybe it was just down when you tried it??

Also, Gwen is right, the artist studies here at 4real are very nice. Here are the other "artist of the month" studies that we've done at 4real this year:

Manet

Homer

Michelangelo

I broke down and got Discovering great Artists this year for dd. I can't wait to start it. I think it will go well with older son's Meet the Masters program. It does look very user-friendly, which is a big plus for me!

Thanks for the ideas! Jen, the site looks to be working but is just a search engine now that does not really link you to anything. They used to have great lessons plans...I will miss the site.
