Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I just purchased this book at B&N the other day and it is a gem! It was only $9.98 but I used my educator discount. On the B&N website it is selling for $7.19 if you are a member.

The book is softcover and very thorough (as best as I can tell to my non-musical ability ), filled with lots of illustrations and photographs. Here are the main sections:

History of Music-making and the Orchestra
Encyclopedia of Instruments
Composition through the Ages
Lives and Works of the Great Composers

Just thought I'd pass along the information!
