For some, the arts are a big part of the homeschool experience and inclusion comes naturally, for others they can become that extra that we need to get to though there seems little time. We all have our strengths and weakness in this area. Is there an area of the arts you feel like you really would like to put more effort into?

I selected drawing since I think everyone should learn how to do that (even if just simply) and some of us are lacking!

I'll be a dissenter. I pretty much have an Associate's in Music and I have wanted to teach my kids an instrument for a while now. Noooope. There's always an excuse, too. It's kind of embarrassing when my in-laws are asking how the kids are doing on learning an instrument.  Ahhh, humility!

I will also dissent
I would love to brainstorm ways to encourage my dc to sing more.
We "sing" during our morning basket time each day, but the reality is not pretty.
1. I sing pretty well... at least I can stay on key, and I like to sing
2. Ds has a very nice voice but is against singing out loud if anyone can hear him
3. Dd ....  although she plays the piano very nicely, she appears to be completely tone deaf as far as singing. Is there help for this?

Drawing and painting under instruction is something I keep trying to do, but it just keeps not happening. I might have to outsource.

Melinda, people say that anyone can learn to sing, even a supposedly tone-deaf person. *How* this is achieved I don't really know, especially as typically voice lessons aren't recommended until a child is older than 12. But I have heard this.
I really wanted an "all of the above" button, too, though honestly, yes, I would like for everyone to have more instruction in drawing. I have one child who plays an instrument. I do wish the rest did, but it's a little late now, probably. Everyone *can* sing, though we don't all sing together nearly as much as we did when the kids were younger. We have a lot of teen/pre-teen self-consciousness going on!
One thing I really miss is drama. When my olders were young, they were very active in community children's theater, but we don't have anything like that close enough for me to want to get involved (and it's all like "Shrek: The Musical").
My 17yo has been involved in drama at the Abbey -- he was in King Lear back in the fall, and participated as a playwright in the 24-Hour Theatre Project there. Six writers are chosen by "audition," via writing samples, then are given a photo prompt from which to write a 1-act play, starting at 8 p.m. on a Friday night. They write all night, then actors audition at 8 a.m. and are cast in the six plays. They rehearse all day, and the show goes up at 8 on Saturday night. Big fun! (and could be totally do-able for a homeschool drama group, which is why I describe it at such length here). But I wish there was more for my middle-schoolers in that department.
I could stand to do art/music appreciation more consistently, but we do do that.
But drawing? Really dropped the ball on that one.

I'd love for the kids to have drama participation and there have been several opportunities here but they are just not interested.
I'm happy to report though that my 16-year-old, the only one who doesn't really play an instrument (I was teaching him piano years ago but he lost interest) has picked up a guitar recently and is learning on his own. (My kids are mostly guitar players (a couple play piano), mostly self-taught or teach each other, or learn from uncles and YouTube .)
We were lacking time drawing/sketching/doing art so we just joined the latest #tinkersketch activity and have been doing more lately (though right now we're late a few days)

I voted for handicrafts because that's an area that my boys would enjoy and I've had on our to-do list but we just can't seem to get to it. (I'm thinking things like soap carving and wood working.)
