Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Can anyone recommend a music textbook that uses themes from classical music? I have one child starting piano, another the recorder, and I don't know much about the available curricula. I just remember that when I learned to play the piano, most of the lessons were based around silly little ditties, which I disliked intensely. Is there an instruction text that can teach either instrument using really good music?

CHC has Hymns for the Young Pianist

It is not a textbook per se, but it is a good book for the young learner.

We also use the Bastien Beginning piano primer. It does have some of the mindless ditties in it, but it also has some classic tunes and even a version of the Surprise Symphony that is easy to play.
