Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone have any specific recommendations for music that can be used more as a calming effect and possibly even at bedtime for an older child. Would prob. prefer something w/o words and w/o upbeat tempo. I'm thinking some classical music but don't want to buy "baby lullabies" for an older child.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I'll check our night stands and get back to you on Monday.
Everyone here falls asleep with a CD.

Loads of ideas, but I'll just recommend a series that I have loved for years and years. There are various ones in this series, I'll list a few. I do not have all these, but have not been disappointed with a single one of these:

::Mozart at Midnight
::Mozart for Meditation: Quiet Music for Quiet Times
::Bach at Bedtime: Lullabies for the Still of the Night
::Beethoven at Bedtime: A Gentle Prelude to Sleep
::Brahms at Bedtime: A Sleepytime Serenade
::Debussy for Daydreaming
::Baroque at Bathtime: A Relaxing Serenade to Wash Your Cares Away
::Baroque for Beauty Sleep: Sweet Dreams for Beautiful Dreamers
::Adagios for After Hours

There are loads more, many with the calming relaxing themes.

If you want to go a non-classical route, I've enjoyed these cds, also:

::Falling in Love With Glenn Miller
::Falling in Love With Benny Goodman
::Falling in Love With Louis Armstrong
::Sense & Sensibility Soundtrack

And then Gregorian Chant is always relaxing and soothing to me. Lots of choices in that route.
