Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I would love to have some suggestions for good wood working books for kids, especially boys.

I have checked out everything from the library and they seemed very outdated, not that woodworking has changed much since the 70's and 80's I suppose.

Ideally, I would like a book that would be clear enough for a 10 yo boy to follow the instructions and work independently or with minimal help on a project. With that being said, I will take ALL recommendations for great books!

Thanks!!
Betsy

Mary,
What a great blog post! I love all of the suggestions. I have ordered the woodworking books, but admittedly, I am too afraid to introduce whittling!!!!

Maybe next year....

Betsy,

Thomas got a "whittling kit" from Santa a few years ago ... he was 8 maybe 9 and loved it and still works with it. A great site for help is Woodcraft that is both mail order and store-fronts. If you don't have one nearby, call and talk to their customer service .. they are very friendly and helpful.
