Deep Space Art Sparkle: Art Lessons for Kids
Sharing this great new website that we're having lots of fun with! She is an art teacher in Southern California, and I just LOVE her projects and her blog. The projects are not too crafty with lots of nonsense...they are age-appropriate with lots of COLOR and excitement....enough direction, yet open-ended.
We absolutely LOVE all the examples of her students' work...it's very inspiring to my girls. It's like going to an art show with one little click!!!!
On the left sidebar, she has art projects arranged by grade-level, which I LOVE!
She has a nice, simple art supply list here, on the right sidebar.
Also....
:: Art Lessons based on Children's Books (left sidebar)
:: Lessons Inspired by Famous Painters (left sidebar)
:: Divided by Subject (right sidebar)
She has PDF files that she's developed (right sidebar) and we are working on the Architecture Made Easy .......some Castle drawings to finish up our Medieval History from this year. They are SO FUN and the PDF file is really helpful! Here are some examples of the work from her classes from the use of the PDF:
:: Castles in Watercolor and Marker
:: How To Draw A Castle
:: Drawing Victorian Homes
:: BarnsDrawing and Painting Barns for Third Grade
I've been contemplating using Artistic Pursuits next year (gr 4-6) Book 2: Color and Composition, but now I'm thinking we'll just continue on with our Artist Study by term and do some of the Deep Space Sparkle projects.
Enjoy clicking away here!
Anyone have any other on-line art blogs that they've been using?

I love her blog, too. Lots of great stuff there. Another one I use a lot is That Artist Woman. She is also an art teacher. Has things by grade level as well. She has amazing projects. Love her -
Both these are ones I found through Crafty Crow!

We love Deep Space Sparkle! Amazing, amazing resource for art lessons!
We purchased a few of her pdf lessons and they're great!!! My oldest dd really enjoys the Fun with Portraits lessons!
Like Suzanne, I'm really looking forward to integrating the Architecture Made Easy (castle plans) into our Medieval Studies this year! How perfect! My kids are chomping at the bit! Good thing we're starting lessons soon!
I'm using the Kindergarten Art lessons for my K/1st grader, and the 4th grade art lessons for my 5th grader! We're super excited here! And now...I'm off to click around Mary's exciting find!
Thank you for linking that, Mary! I have this vague memory that you (or maybe someone else??) might have linked that before and I just didn't look at it. Anyway, it looks great, and I love how she has categorized some art projects by season! I'm off to click around there!

That Artist Woman is GREAT too! Thanks Mary!
And, I think I found Deep Space Sparkle via Barb-Harmony Art Mom.

Another one I use is Art Projects for Kids, the blog of an art teacher. Also the Dick Blick website has lesson plans, all the way up to high school level.

I just noticed Art Projects for Kids has a new Masterpieces coloring book PDF, 10 pictures for 5 bucks. Looks pretty good.

We've done several projects from The Artist Women and all were huge successes. These two religious-themed projects were especially beautiful. We made a bunch of the silhouettes to pass out to the residents of a nearby nursing home for Christmas and they were well received.
