Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am homeschooling my 6 and almost 5 year old and wanted some book recommendations for art and craft ideas. Any good ones that you have tried?

Here's a link to my book blog, Nurturing Creativity, where you can find annotated bibliographies (with links to Amazon) for various art/craft books for use with (or without ) the kiddoes.

Also, my book In His Image might be a great resource for you generally!

I have always really enjoyed the Mary Ann Kohl books. She has ideas/books for all different ages and different media/art types. There are samples of some of the projects. Many, many libraries carry these books.

The Usborne art books are also fantastic for both art and craft ideas. I especially love those by Fiona Watt.

And Artistic Pursuits which is a art curriculum I love has 3 books specifically for K-3rd. These have lots of craft projects in addition to the art projects. It is a combination art skill and art appreciation study. They have some sample lesson/projects on the site.

Wow, MaryG, what a fantastically comprehensive list! What a great resource to have!

It is funny that the rest of you recommended the Usborne art books by Fiona Watt, that is one of the ones that caught my eye from Mary's list.

I second the Kohl books!
The book "What Shall I Draw?" is super easy for little kids, and they love learning how to draw step by step.
