Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Is anyone familiar with this? Any thoughts? It's a bit intriguing to this completely non-musical mama as a small into to music...any other suggestions for something I could use to introduce the kids to piano instruction? Not sure if lessons are in the budget this year...

I haven't used that particular program, but years ago I bought a similar one from the Growing Without Schooling catalog and it did help my oldest to get started when he was about four, but it wasn't worth repeating with my other children. Have you spent time flipping through the piano books at a music store? Many of the early levels have numbers next to the notes so that the child can learn finger placement and some, like the Alfred series, are written in enough detail that someone who doesn't know piano could easily teach it in the beginning. Around here piano books at that level are $5 or $6 dollars a piece and many places will give a teacher's discount. I've never been asked for ID or even what type of teacher I am.
