Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

For this coming school year one of my goals is to incorporate more art, and more beauty into our school work. For example, instead of having the kids write their narrations on lined notebook paper, I think it would be so neat if they wrote them in a beautiful book that they had decorated. My question is, would it work to have the kids use water colors and paint a background, then when it dried, let them write a narration on it? Or maybe they could paint a border and write in the middle of the page?
If that would work, what sort of notebook would I use? I'm afraid a sketch notebook wouldn't hold up if water colors were used.
This is probably a dumb question ... I'm showing my art-deficiency!

You can find bound books with watercolor weight paper at Michael's.

Or...when I use main lesson books or nature sketch books that *don't* have watercolor weight paper - I just add their watercolor to their books with acid free double sided tape. My absolute FAVORITE are the Portofino Aquarello 6" x 6" pads at Dick Blick! They're the perfect size for watercoloring a smallish image and then adding to a main lesson book.

Becky, Katherine explains how she does it here.

Kim at Starry Sky Ranch has photos here that show what her children's books look like.

Personally, I was glad to stumble on Katherine's post (thank you, Elizabeth! ) and then Kim's. I really need the visual component to figure these things out! I"m such a linear thinker, that I couldn't fathom how these books came together w/o mistakes, etc. Watercolors in a notebook?

Thank You Tami! I had read Kim's post (which really inspired me to do this!) but not Katherine's. This is very helpful.
Jennifer, we don't have a Michael's around here but I'll check out the ones at Dick Blick.
Thanks for your help!
