Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are wondering whether to let our kids be involved with this play being performed at a local theater this summer. I don't know much about it but it looks kind of "dark" to me and I am wondering what the "moral of the story" is to this play. Is anyone familar with it? Our oldest has been in several plays with the lady directing it and she is wonderful! But I was disappointed when I heard she was doing this play. Maybe it's o.k. though? Can anyone help me? Theater is usually the highlight of summer vacation around here.
Thanks so much,
Dana

try googling into the woods, junior synopsis. basically, there is no 2nd act, and darker elements of act 1 from the regular show are removed.

Thank you Mary. Would you allow your children to be in it?

With all theater performances, so much depends on the director and the choices they make. I am very familiar with the full production and can tell you that if they stop after the first act, then they have cut out most of the dark stuff and innuendo but not all of it necessarily. If you are worried about the themes, you can read the lyrics to the songs and decide for yourself. There are some themes that can be pulled out if the director chooses that might not be appropriate for children (but they don't have to be highlighted) so you might want to talk to the director and find out what her vision for the production is.

Thank you Charlotte. You make some excellent points. I just love the director. My oldest DS has been in 6 shows that she directed and had a wonderful experience every time. This is the first time I have had a bad feeling about the choice of the play itself however. Dana

Hi Dana,
Yes, my daughter was in it 3 years ago. She was 9 at the time. She was in the chorus/villager. She had seen the full show (movie, high school production). All things theater a HUGE in our family.
Is there another drama production in a nearby town? You could look online for the town recreation site and find out more information.
God bless,
Mary-NY
