Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am trying to come up with some summer art projects for my soon to be 10 year old boys. We spend some time each afternoon on arts and crafts/handiwork - my dd sews or knits or crochets or does watercolors. The boys need to be guided more. Usually I come up with a daily art project - but this year with newborn etc I was hoping to find something they do independently.

They have expressed an interest in Watercolor for the Artistically Undiscovered (which I like)

I am wondering if there is something similar for drawing - they want to draw and sketch.

Thanks!

I'm a huge, HUGE fan of Bruce McIntyre's Drawing Textbook. I've used it for years, and my mom used it with my brother and sister when they were homeschooling! It is a very inexpensive little book that can be used for everyone in the family. It couldn't be simpler or more self-directed.

Timberdoodle has a great synopsis with better pictures of the book.

Thanks Jen - I do have the Drawing Textbook - it was in my art plans for the first half of the year. Recently our art lessons have been non-existent - so it is a good idea to see if the boys will use it independently.

Have you seen this blog? I have enjoyed the projects there.

I have been doing a lot of Zendalas They are a lot of fun.

What about perusing Harmony Arts Mom ? She has some lessons using Drawing with Children but I don't think they are for independent use as much.

If I think of anything else I'll post later,
